NEWSFLASH: STOLEN INSTRUMENTS

In mid-January, a number of instruments belonging to two local
musicians were stolen from a car parked near Station Inn in Nashville,
TN. We are listing this information here in hopes that someone might
recognize the instruments and help to ensure that they get back to
their original owners. Please contact the CRA if you have any information
that you believe might be helpful.
Please pass this on to anyone you can think of who keeps up with pawn
shops and web sites that might have relevant information.
- 100-year-old German Strad copy (fiddle). Brown. D'addario helicore
strings. Writing in pen in the inside "Repaired by .....LaPlant 199..."
- LaPlant guitar. Serial No. 132-1996. LaPlant inlayed on headstock.
Golden color, herringbone inlay. Black case w/ blue inside.
- Lamy bow. Reddish brown. Whalebone winding, alternating black and
white. Round stick. Tip repaired.
- Wunderlick bow. Octagonal stick. Light brown color. Frog is kind of
chewed up on the bottom front side in one corner. Metallic winding,
discolored in places from silver to copper. Lots of finish
taken off by rosin.
- Calton fiddle case. Grass green outside, blue inside. Plastered with
stickers like "Cut low stumps," "ETSU," and "Treated to prevent
foot odor." Serial no. 4273 and "Becky Buller" etched on
silver plate label.
- 1928 Gibson A 2-style mandolin. in very good shape. solid black back
piece. black line up back of the neck. "Guaranteed" sticker inside.
In original black Gibson case
with pea green inside. Had a suitcase label with "Megan Gregory" written
on it.
- Air suspension case covered in blue canvas with faded signatures of
fiddle heroes.
Wine-colored velvet inside with red and white silk cloth covering fiddle
(cloth starting to tear and brown stuffing coming out).
- Late 1800's Magini-style fiddle. L.R. Baggs hookup attached to bridge
(L.R. Baggs printed on bridge). Beautiful wood on top and back- covered
in dark lines. One-piece back with dark zigzag wood. Double perfling
around edges of both top and back. The neck has been repaired- doesn't
have the common dove-tail attachment. End pin has been reglued. Old crack
on top of fiddle going from right f-hole to the right of the chin rest.
The lines in the wood on the sides of the fiddle connect the top piece to
the bottom piece (like jail bars). Cushion on chin rest. D' addario
helicore strings.
- Two bows. One round stick recently been rehaired. The other an
octagonal stick with faded lettering "Ernst Wunderlick". My forefinger
has rubbed off the lettering and also worn a niche in the leather
covering the binding at the frog. Mother of pearl eyes on sides of both
frogs and also rectagonal pieces on bottom of frogs.
