Magic
What do we mean by magic? Since no single definition of the term
"magic" (or call it "magick" or whatever name you prefer) seems to be
satisfactory to everyone, we're not going to try to define it in
narrow terms, but rather in terms of how it relates to various aspects
of everyday life.
The place we most commonly see magic mentioned, reflected, and used is
probably in religion. Clearly, different religions have different
perspectives on the subject, to the extent that the terminology used
is often confusingly incompatible.
In some circles, separating science from religion would be considered
heretical! We felt, however, that since the group calling itself "the
scientific community" by and large discusses and views magic in
different terms from most religions communities, that we should
reflect this viewpoint separately.
